Just two years short of turning 50, the actress is still seen making a mark with audiences – in an industry that is infamous for often under-utilizing actress after they become mothers, or reach a certain age.

The star who has previously helmed hits like ‘Devdas’, ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ and ‘Dhoom 2’, has done it again with her starring role in the recently released Mani Ratnam magnum opus – Ponniyin Selvan: 1 aka PS-1.

The mega-budget film which stars Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi has already collected Rs 430 crore at the global box office, becoming the biggest grosser in the actress’ career.

This has made her come at the top as the ‘box office queen’ of her generation, beating other actresses who started around the same time as she did, namely – Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta and even Kareena Kapoor.

Aishwarya Rai’s box-office numbers have surpassed them all.

That is not all, Aish now awaits the release of the sequence of the film, which – by all expectations, would turn into an even bigger hit than the first one.
