RRR Part 2: SS Rajamouli Confirms There Will Be A Sequel To The Blockbuster

As RRR continues to take the world by storm, reaching new level of recognition in markets that usually aren’t as accepting of Indian films – the filmmaker has vowed to make the most of the opportunity by plotting a sequel.

The hit-churning director has just confirmed that he plans to release a sequel, i.e., part 2 of his worldwide blockbuster which starred Jr. NTR and Ramcharan.

As you might know, most of Rajamouli’s films are written for screen by his father V. Vijayendra Prasad, and Mr. Prasad is presently looking at the prospect of expanding the script further to churn out a sequel for the film, turning it into a franchise.

Attending an event at Chicago, United States, Rajamouli announced the news to his audience:

“My father is story writer for all my films. We discussed a bit about ‘RRR 2’ and he’s working on the story.”

It isn’t clear yet whether the said sequel will continue the existing story of the two leading protagonists from the original, but that seems unlikely considering the film was inspired from real-life characters.

There are two chances – it can continues to tell more stories with the same characters continuing from where it had left, or it may as well take-on other legendary lesser-known heroes from India’s independence battle and then create a spectacle out of it.

Either way, the filmmaker now has the eyes of the whole world on what he brings to the table next.

Would be interesting to see how this one shapes up.
