Inspirational: Once Mocked For Her “Poor English”, Surabhi Gautam Clears UPSC In Her First Attempt

Clearing the UPSC exam is still a dream for many, every year lakhs of aspirants appear for the examination but only few manage to make their dream come true. And every year we hear about inspiring stories of those who make that dream come true, despite all their odds.

One such candidate is Surabhi Gautam, who has cleared UPSC to become an IAS, that too in her first attempt.



The journey of Surabhi has been pretty inspirational. Hailing from a small village in Madhya Pradesh, the young girl completed her education from a Hindi medium government school with limited sources.

Surabhi’s father is a civil lawyer and her mother is a teacher in high school. She was a topper students since her school days, scoring 90 plus percent in both 10th and 12th board examination.

The diligent aspirant was also the first from her village to move to the city for higher studies. After clearing the entrance exam for engineering, Surbhi enrolled for Engineering in Electronics and communications from Bhopal.

But her college days were not always good, as she was many times mocked for her poor English in class. But the determined young girls also took that as a challenge and started working diligently to improve her English, she decided to learn at least 10 English words daily, wrote the meaning of those words, wrote them on the wall and started rehearsing them to make her English better.



Surabhi got the reward for her hard work and was awarded the college chancellor’s award. She became university topper and a gold medalist, before clearing the UPSC exams she cleared many competitive exams like, ISRO, GATE, SAIL, SSC CGL, Delhi Police and others.

 

The young IAS officer’s journey is nothing but inspirational, and her handwork proves that you can overcome any obstacle in life with your determination.
