This is the story of K Jayaganesh – an IAS officer who once used to work as a waiter during his younger years.
Born in a small village – Vinavamangalam in the Vellore district, K Jayaganesh came from a financially poor background and was always struggling to make ends meet by trying different things during his struggle-filled journey.
His father used to work in a factory, and with whatever little money he got, supported his family. Jayaganesh saw the poverty stricken state of his village with his own eyes and always aspired to do something about it.

After leaving his village for further studies, he studied mechanical engineering at Tanthi Periyar Institute of Technology – and started working with an organization at a monthly salary of Rs 2,500. He then realized that it wasn’t enough to support his family, so he quit that job and started preparing for UPSC.
But that road wasn’t easy. Jayaganesh failed to clear the examination or secure a rank for 6 consecutive attempts, which is when he started doing odd jobs to also meet the financial needs of his family.
Finally, after multiple attempts, Jayaganesh secured 156th rank in this examination – and had his long-awaited dream job in his hand.
