Akshay Kumar’s Film Prithviraj’s Name Changed To ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ To Meet Karni Sena’s Demand

Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of his next mega budget venture – Prithviraj, which also stars Sanjay Dutt and debutant Manushi Chillar in pivotal roles.

The film is based on the life and tales of celebrated warrior and king Prithviraj Chauhan, and the stories of his bravery in the battlefield.

But much before the release of the ambitious project, the filmmakers were faced with the object raised by a certain groups over the name of the film.

It was a point raised by groups like the Karni Sena, which demanded that the film should be renamed to ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ than just ‘Prithviraj’ as a form of respect while addressing the revered and celebrated warrior.

A few days before the release of the film, the maker Yash Raj Films have complied with the demand and have changed the name of the film, taking notice of the objection.

The production house released a statement as a response to the issue raised:

Interesting.

Free from controversies now (hopefully), Samrat Prithviraj will release on June 3.
