After His ‘Ripped-Jeans’ Remark, Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat Now Says ‘Faith Will Beat COVID-19 Fears At Kumbh’

Tirath Singh Rawat seems to be in news for all the wrong reasons.

The Bharatiya Janata Party leader, who’s the present chief minister of the Uttarakhand state, previously irked the youth of the country after making a commentary on female clothing choices; calling-out those who choose to wear ‘ripped-jeans’.

If that wasn’t enough, he has now raised plenty eyebrows by apparently diminishing the seriousness of the rising cases of Covid-19 across the nation, stating something to effect – faith will beat the fear surrounding Covid-19 among those visiting the Kumbh mela.

Now that is quite a troubling statement even for the BJP government in the centre, which is trying it’s best to ensure that vaccination is made available to as many people, and as soon, as it’s possible – to curb down the ongoing increase in the number of daily Covid cases.

But Mr. Rawat seems unfazed by the gravity of the present health crisis, as he brushed aside the concerns in light of lakhs of devotees attending the ongoing Kumbh mela taking place in Uttarakhand, stating that ‘faith will beat all fear’ around the deadly disease.

The statement also invited the wrath of filmmaker Hansal Mehta, who actually shared it first on his social media:

Let us just hope people continue following all Covid-19 rules and guidelines as previously explained by healthcare professionals.

It is for our own well-being, after all.
