Swara Bhaskar Criticizes Bollywood Stars For “Silence” On Farmer Protests, But Haven’t They Already Spoken?

Bollywood has been pretty much divided on the subject of the ongoing farmer’s protest.

While a section has shown sympathy to the supporting farmers and has praised every single voice that has stood up against the central government’s farmer bill, another group has resented foreign involvement in the country’s internal matters, calling out comments by the likes of Rihanna and Mia Khalifa.

Swara Bhaskar, who’s been a strong critique of the BJP-led government has also been an avid supporter of the farmer’s protests across the country and has also chosen to personally participate in it.

The actress was recently heard calling-out Bollywood celebs for their ‘silence’ on the topic in a recent interview with SpotBoyE, after a host of international celebs spoke on it.

However plenty of B-town celebs have jumped-into the discussion already, by siding with the government’s campaign to fight an alleged international propaganda by an alleged group of separatists, but Swara apparently want them to speak on behalf of the protesting farmers instead, it seems.

Comparison the current ‘silence’ with the way B-town celebs had spoken on black lives matter movement in America, following the brutal killing of George Floyd by the hands of U.S. cops, the actress stated:

“We can’t be that self-centered. When George Floyd was murdered and the black-lives-matter movement happened, our celebrities were regularly tweeting on it.”

Swara was also joined by veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah on the topic, who echoed her sentiments:

“The towering personalities of our film industry are extremely silent over all this. They believe that they may lose something if they speak up. When you have earned enough to provide for seven generations, How much will you lose?” – he said.

Interesting, so does that mean that the tweets made by Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty, Ekta Kapoor, Anupam Kher – don’t count, because they serve opposite opinions?
