Hansal Mehta is lashing out at fans of Sushant Singh Rajput, who seem to be at war over the internet, in order find the complete truth behind the actor’s untimely passing, initially ruled out as suicide.
Mehta, seemed particularly disgruntled with the way some people were name-calling Sushant’s friend and reported girlfriend, Rhea Chakroborty – who has been named and accused of ‘abetment to suicide’ in an FIR filed by Sushant’s family with Bihar police.
The ‘Aligarh’ filmmaker is on a spree of ‘outing fake fans’, who he says did not support his movies with the same fervour when he was alive, with which they seem to be going after the people who are accused of his eventual demise.
“Who watched #Sonchiriya at the cinema halls? None of the hired trolls for sure. Who watched #Sonchiriya later? None of them. They deserve only contempt,” he wrote in a tweet.
Sonchiriya was an ambitious project by Sushant, with also starred talents like – Manoj Bajpayee and Ranvir Shoray. But despite widespread critical acclaim for a rustic and raw performance, which is now also referred to as Sushant’s ‘best work’ by Mehta, the movie failed miserably at the box office.
Hansal is particularly angry with the ‘internet justice’ and wants the accused’s guilt or innocence to be proven in a court of law.
Here’s what he had previously said on Rhea and the online trolling:
“God forbid if the girl being accused and being subjected to a trial by media does harm to herself. Will Arnab, all the politicians and all those invited on these media witch-hunts be held accountable? Let her guilt/innocence be proved in a court of law for heaven’s sake.”
Rhea is presently being interrogated for all the accusations laid against her, while the CBI has filed an FIR against her and a number of other of her family members.
A number of other industry biggies are also embroiled in the controversy revolving Sushant’s untimely passing.
