Putting together our latest video, we have compiled the list of the 10 best voices in Indian music in the past 20 years.
Restricting our choices for consideration strictly to the last 2 decades, we have only included singers who have actively performed or recorded post 1998 – in an attempt to enlist the best popular voices of the current generation. So that means for a list comprising of the best vocalists of all time – we’ll soon come back with more.
For this particular list we have chosen to put broad variety of vocalists, starting from those who have had a formal training in Hindustani classical and boast of a highly skilled, controlled, versatile instrument – to those who have mostly relied on their natural tone, soul and delivery rather than the technicalities.
As the Top 10 opens with voices like Udit Narayan, Atif Aslam and Shaan in further includes a range of other singers like Kailash Kher, Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh and Shankar Mahadevan.
