The failure of Laal Singh Chaddha was perhaps one of the biggest career setbacks for Aamir Khan.
The actor had been working on the project for over 4 years, and it was already being cited as one of his most ambitious offerings ever. The actor had apparently also invested a lot of time and money into the film, which was an official adaptation of the Oscar winning Hollywood classic – Forrest Gump.
But things didn’t go as planned for the 57 year old, as he faced a total boycott from a majority of audiences – and the film ended up becoming one of the biggest flops of the year, despite a huge budget of 180 crores on it’s shoulders.
Months later, the actor has announced that he plans to take a long break from acting.
During a recent press conference, the star stated that he does have a very interesting script at hand – but he plans to take a break instead, to be with his family.
Here’s what he was quoted as saying:
“When I am doing a film as an actor, I get so lost in that that nothing else happens in my life. I was supposed to do a film after ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ called ‘Champions’. It’s a wonderful script, a beautiful story, and it’s a very heartwarming and lovely film. But I feel that I want to take a break, be with my family, with my mom, my kids.”
Elaborating his point further, the actor added:
“I feel that it’s not fair to people who are close to me. And it’s not fair to me as well. This is the time I feel I have to take some time off to be with them and actually experience life in a different way. I am looking forward to the next year, a year-and-a-half in which I am not working as an actor.”
He pointed out that it would be the first time ever that he will be taking a break as an actor.
