Assam Created A World Record With 11,304 Dancers Performing Bihu Dance At A Single Venue

It was a sight to behold in Guwahati earlier this week as over 11,000 dancers and performers gathered for a beautifully synchronized massive performance of the traditional Bihu dance.

The performance took place at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on April 13, in the presence of Assam chief minister – Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The performers presented their well-orchestrated show in front of a representative from Guinness World Records, earning the world-record title for the mass gathering.

Chief minister Sarma, proudly shared the news, stating:

“We have made world records for both Bihu dance as well as Bihu dhols with 11,304 dancers and drummers. It is the largest Bihu dance and Bihu dhol performance in a single venue.”

The culture department of the present Assam government was responsible for bearing the costs of turning this event into a world record, which was also witnessed by prime minister Narendra Modi.

Congratulations, indeed. A proud moment.
