Miss Universe 2023: Harnaaz Sandhu Becomes Emotional During Her ‘Final Walk’ As Miss Universe

As the tradition goes – Harnaaz Sandhu was present at the 2023 Miss Universe competition to hand over her crown for the new winner of the year.

The Indian beauty was crowned Miss Universe 2022 – representing India globally on the platform and had brought home the crown after several years since Lara Dutta’s last win in the year 2000.

As she appeared on the stage to pass the crown to another beauty, Harnaaz was overwhelmed with emotions walking her last walk as a crown-holder.

Joining her hands to the cheering crowd, Harnaaz couldn’t help but get emotional as she bowed down gracefully before giving the crown to the new winner – R’Bonney Gabriel from the United States, who became the first Filipino American to win the crown.

As she walked towards the crowd waving and letting her tears flow, a voiceover previously recorded by her played in the background, in which she could be heard saying some true words of encouragement for the new winner:

“I was 17 years old when I first took the stage and since then becoming Miss Universe was my goal. I’ve been given the megaphone on a worldwide stage to present the topic of menstrual equity before world leaders asking them to keep this conversation ongoing.”

Her voice further echoes the sentiment:

“In a message to Miss Universe 2022, Harnaz Sandhu added, “Remember to live this year to the fullest because tomorrow is never promised. Namaste Universe.”

Harnaaz bowed-out in style and grace.
