Watch : Shahrukh Khan reacts to the ongoing boycott calls against Pathaan, says ‘Duniya Chahe Kuch Bhi Karle….’

Shahrukh Khan’s highly anticipated movie, Pathaan, that is also been labelled as the comeback movie for the blockbuster star has already landed in trouble after the release of its song ‘Besharam Rang’.

There have been boycott calls throughout social media, pointing out the dressing style of Deepika Padukone in the music video. The makers even got strong reaction from Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra who said they will have to think again about releasing the movie in the state if they do not do correction in the music video.

Shahrukh who was attending Kolkata International Film Festival 2022 on Thursday, indirectly addressed the criticism his upcoming movie is facing and also talked about the negativity in the social media. The DDLJ actor said, “The collective narratives of our times are shaped by social media. Contrary to the belief that the spread of social media will affect cinema negatively, I believe cinema has an even more important role to play now. Social media is often driven by a certain narrowness of view that limits human nature to its baser self. And its somewhere that negativity increases social media consumption and thereby increases its commercial value as well. Such pursuits enclose the collective narrative making it divisive and destructive.”

Talking further about the role of cinema in the society he said, “Cinema exposes the vulnerability of human nature by telling stories in their simplest form as they are lived. It allows us to know each other better. In a way, it is best placed to sustain a collective counter narrative that speaks to the larger nature of human kind–a narrative that brings to the fore humanity’s immense capacity for compassion, unity, and brotherhood,”

And in the end SRK concluded his speech by switching to Hindi and talked about Positive people around, “The world has become normal. We are all happy, I am the happiest. And I have no objection in stating that duniya kuch bhi kar le, main aur aap log aur jitney bhi positive log hain sab ke sab, zinda hain” he ended his speech by saying ‘Zinda hai’ in the his Pathaan movie character’s style.

Pathaan is slated for a 25th January 2023 release. The movie also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone alongside Shahrukh.
