SS Rajamouli Praises Kantara Says It Put Others In Pressure, “We need to go back and check what we are doing”

Kantara has been a box-office success of monumental proportions. Especially when you check the cost-to-profit ratio.

The Rishabh Shetty directed Kannada language film has been a Pan India success, even to the surprise of it’s makers.

Made on a humble budget of 16 crores, the film has gone on to gross over 410 crores worldwide, becoming one of the biggest success-stories in Indian cinema.

Now, the film has found another fan in filmmaker SS Rajamouli.

The RRR directed was recently quized about the success of the film and went on to heap praises on how it has reached such a large audience even with such a small budget. The director went on to add that movies like Kantara have made others realize that grand budgets aren’t always needed to create record-breaking box-offices successes like these.

Here is what he was quoted as telling Film Companion:

“Big budgets are something.. and suddenly Kantara comes in and looks at the numbers it is making. Suddenly, you do not need a big-scale film to do big numbers. Even a small film like Kantara can do that.”

He went on to add how the film has been eye-opening for many filmmakers:

“As audience it is exciting, but as filmmakers, we need to go back and check what we are doing.”

Kantara is now available on streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazong Prime. The film solely spread like wildfire at the box office, based on the incredibly positive word-of-mouth it received.
