‘They Get Rs 50 Crores For Doing Gutka Ads, Why Will They Work In My Films’: Prakash Jha

Critically acclaimed filmmaker Prakash Jha has called out actors for their association with Tabaco related brands.

Notably, the filmmaker has previously delivery memorable films like ‘Gangajal’, which featured Ajay Devgn in an acclaimed performance.

Interestingly – Ajay is now one of the many actors who is infamous for doing advertisements for Paan Masaala products.

During a recent interview with Times Of India, Prakash lashed out big actors of Bollywood, when he was asked why he struggles to cast them in his movies anymore.

Here is what he was quoted as saying:

“There are 5-6 actors. Look at the condition of these actors. Why will they work in my films when they get ₹50 crores for doing one gutka advertisement? The actors are selling gutka. Can you imagine? What are these top, legendary actors doing?

Not only that Prakash also lashed out at the stars, as he recalled an incident in which he was questioned about a local school’s administration, regarding Bollywood’s responsibility over promoting the sale and purchase of such products.

“The principal of the school asked me what are you guys doing in the Mumbai film industry? The boys in our school are caught chewing gutka. “- he told the publication.

Aside from Ajay, big stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar have also formed associations with Paan Masala products – although the latter had eventually dropped from the deal after immense criticism online.
