Kangana Ranaut Wins ‘Best Actress’ Award For Thalaivii At South Indian International Movie Awards

2022 may have been a tough year for Kangana Ranaut, as her highly anticipated film ‘Dhaakad’ failed at the box office, but she has finally found some redemption in the form of the praise and accolades for her film, ‘Thalaivii’.

The 2021 released biopic on the life of late Tamil Nadu chief minsiter Jayalalitha garnered immense praise for the actress upon it’s release, and was quite a success on OTT platforms, staying atop streaming charts for several weeks.

Now, as the awarding season begins, Ranaut – a multiple National Award winner, has grabbed her first SIIMA (South Indian International Movie Awards) trophy for her work in the A. L. Vijay directed venture.

While Kangana herself wasn’t there to receive the trophy, her fans were ecstatic as the official handle of SIIMA announced her win:

“#KangnaRanaut in Thalaivii won our hearts. She has won the Best Actress in a Leading Role (Tamil) for the same as well. Congratulations!”

The award was received by Brinda Prasad on the actress’ behalf.

Interestingly, Kangana was also a strong contender this year in the Filmfare awards’ ‘Best Actress’ category, but actively refused to associate her name with the awards and protested against the nomination, citing her disbelief in their authenticity. Her nomination was consequently withdrawn from the ceremony this year and the award was won by Kriti Sanon for her work in Mimi.

Nevertheless, controversies aside – Kangana Ranaut’s talent continues to speak for itself.
