A Biopic On The Life Of Ranu Mondal: Sacred Games Actress Eshika Dey Will Play The Role

Remember – Ranu Mondal?

The internet-famed singer who was literally picked-off from the streets courtesy of her viral videos, performing at railway stations and traffic red lights, who eventually got a brief-lived break in Bollywood.

Ranu has since been seen in a number of viral YouTube videos, although her journey in Bollywood itself – after her break with Himesh Reshammiya, has been short-lived.

The internet sensation will soon find her story being told on celluloid, as a biopic is reportedly in the works throwing light into her life before her 15 minutes of stardom.

According to reports, Sacred Games actress Eshika Dey has been roped-into the project to essay the role of Mondal, as the story will focus on her struggles as a street performer, eventually finding some little success in showbiz, due to her viral content.

The movie is called ‘Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai’ – the Lata Mangeshkar classic, that Ranu performed in the original viral video at a local railway station in West Bengal, which garnered her even the attention of the late and legendary songbird herself.

The movie is being directed by Hrishikesh Mondal and as per reports Eshika had to lose nearly 10 KG of weight in just two months, to fit into the role.

Would be interesting to see if there would be any takers for this…
