Kangana Ranaut Calls Filmfare Awards “unethical, corrupt” After Scoring Nomination For Thalaivii, Threatens To Sue

Kangana Ranaut scored a nomination at the upcoming Filmfare awards for her role in the power-packed ‘Thalavii’, which saw her portraying the role of Tamil Nadu’s former chief minister, the late Jayalalitha.

But while most actors, would be in a celebratory mode after scoring such accolade, Kangana has called-out the organizers for forcing her to attend the ceremony to receive the award.

Taking to her social media, the ace actress made some strong allegations against the awards calling them ‘unethical’ and ‘corrupt’.

She wrote:

“I have banned unethical, corrupt and totally unfair practices like Filmfare since 2014, but since I have been getting many calls from them for attending their award function this year as they want to give me award for Thalaivii… I am shocked to know that they are still nominating me …… it is beneath my dignity, work ethics and value system to encourage such corrupt practices in anyway, that is why I have decided to sue @Filmfare thanks.”

In a follow-up post Ranaut also accused that back in 2013, the same awards had allegedly threatened her that if she didn’t attend the ceremony or give a performance on stage, she will not win any awards.

“Back in 2013 Filmfare clearly told me that if I don’t attend their award show or dance on the stage I won’t get awards”

As a response to her allegations, within hours after her accusations, Filmfare awards withdrew her nomination for the actress – which she marked as a fruit of her retaliation against the awards.

All this happened, within hours, after her posts went viral.

“Filmfare has finally withdrew my best actress nominations, thanks to everyone who supported me in this fight against corrupt system but this doesn’t stop me from taking legal action against them… my endeavour is to put an end to these unethical practices and stop such malicious award shows … see you in court !!!”

As of now, Kangana continues to maintain that she still plans to sue Filmfare, however it isn’t sure as of now, what would be the ground of the case or her appeal.
