R Madhavan’s directorial debut ‘Rocketry: The Nambi effect’ is set to release on July 1st 2022.
The actor will also play the pivotal role of rocket scientist Nambi Narayan in the movie, which is apparently an ambitious project for the star.
Recently, Madhavan shared a behind the scenes video of his commendable transformation into the lead character – Nambi Narayan.
In the video, the actor shared his experience and challenges he faced while transforming into the former aerospace scientist of ISRO.
Speaking on the same, Madhavan says:
“The script had been written in a manner for which the requirement of me looking as close to the real Nambi sir as possible was mandatory. It was literally rocket science how the entire team planned the look from being a 29 year old man to 79 year old guy. To maneuver the look between our schedule of 43 days was one of our greatest achievements. You will see in the film how the transition of the look is so seamless that you would not even realize how and when the look changed.”
Further in the video, he also revealed the two most difficult challenges he faced during the whole process, in which he pointed out that he had to wear braces to make his teeth look similar to Nambi, “manipulating my original teeth to look like his was the most difficult part of the shoot.”
And the second challenge was the hair for which he had to sit for 18 hours for 3 consecutive days to get the tone of his hair colour lighter.

As per reports, Shahrukh Khan has also played a cameo role in the Hindi version of the movie.
Rocketry: The Nambi effect is a film based on the life of former aerospace and rocket scientist Nambi Narayan, who was charged with leaking defense secrets in 1994. Nambi Narayan fought his own case in 1996 and was declared not guilty in 1996.
The Film was also premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and had reportedly received standing ovation from the audience.
