Veteran Singer Edava Basheer Dies Aged 78 After Collapsing On Stage During Live Performance

Popular Malayalam singer Edava Basheer passed away earlier this week, much to the shock of Indian music lovers.

The 78 year old music veteran, died in the most unusual of circumstances, in the midst of a live performance.



Edava was performing to a live audience on-stage when he collapsed on stage performing at Pathirappaly in Kollam district on Saturday. It is being reported that he was singing Hindi song ‘Mano ho thum’, when he suddenly collapsed.

 

He was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital in Cherthala, but it was too late to save him.

His funeral took place at Kadappakada Juma Masjid Kabarishthan.

A renowned singer in Malayalam music, Edava gave several years to his singing career, performing across the globa. ‘Akasaroopini’ – one of his most famous songs was always in high demand when he performed it across temple festivals in Kerala.



Several prominent personalities from the south, including Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and renowned singer Chitra payed homage to him through social media posts.
