These Are The Highest Grossing Indian Films Of All Time As Of 2022

With the recent humongous numbers of KGF2 and RRR, the tally of the ‘highest grossing Indian films ever’ has been updated.

The past couple of years has seen an unprecedented rise of South Indian cinema, that has forced Bollywood to come out of its shell of formulaic ventures, that clearly haven’t been doing as well in the box office.



But despite it all, some of the updated figures are still certain to surprise you.

Here are the top 10 highest grossing Indian films, counting their global gross collections:

10) Sultan – ₹623 Crores

Release year – 2016
Starting off the list with this Salman Khan box-office hit, which was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, and featured the superstar actor in the role of a struggling middle-aged wrestler, trying to make a desperate comeback to prove his worth.

9) Baahubali: The Beginning – ₹650 Crores



Release year – 2015
The film that created the biggest build-up for it’s sequel in recent Indian cinema history, with everyone coming back from the theater, asking – ‘Why did Katappa kill Bahubali?’. A question that led it’s sequel to generate history at the box office.

8) 2.0 – ₹655 Crores

Release year – 2018
With the presence of South superstar Rajnikanth, this sci-fi action-thriller was a major box office success, serving as the second installment in Rajni’s Enthiran series.

7) PK – ₹854 Crores



Release year – 2014
Rajkumar Rao’s socio-religious satire was loved by Indian audiences that made her the highest grossing film in Indian cinema around that time – a record that has since been broken.

6) Secret Superstar – ₹966 Crores

Release year – 2017
With Aamir Khan’s name and presence associated with it, even for a short while, the film garnered enough attention too attract both domestic and international audiences to the theaters, turning this inspiring story of an aspirant teen singer into a massive hit.

5) Bajrangi Bhaijaan – ₹969 Crores



Release year – 2015
One of Salman Khan’s most popular roles from recent years, that garnered immense love from audiences. Accompanied by some hit music and songs, the film has managed to become the highest grosser of the superstar’s career.

4) K.G.F: Chapter 2 – ₹1,115 Crores

Release year – 2022
The first part of this film developed quite a cult following, which led to immense hype associated with it’s sequel, which came out in the year 2022. The film exceeded all expectations, surpassing several Bollywood and Hollywood collections in the domestic market, at the time of it’s release.

3) RRR – ₹1,130 Crores



Release year – 2022
A fantasy based period drama revolving around some real-life events, that was destined to break box-office records due to all the hype that it received prior to it’s release.

2) Baahubali 2: The Conclusion – ₹1,800 Crores

A box-officer juggernaut created by SS Rajamouli, serving as the conclusive installment to his two-part magnum opus. The high-on action and fantasy, epic drama garnered majority of it’s collections from the domestic market in the year 2017.

This Aamir Khan remains the biggest grosser of Indian cinema, largely thanks to the film’s collections in China and Aamir Khan’s popularity in the country, especially after the success of PK. Dangal remains at #1.
