Manoj Bajpayee married Shabana Raza in the year 2006, and the couple continues to go stronger 16 years after they solicited their bond.
The actor has seen a number of up’s and down’s in his career during this phase, and has now come to that stage where he’s regarded as a generation’s icon, and through it all – Shabana has remained by his side.
After all these years, Manoj even remembers what made him fall in love with her, when he saw her at a party back in the year 1998.
In excerpts from the actor’s biography – Kuch Paane Ki Zid, the actor speaks about how he fell in love with Shabana’s ‘Saadgi (Simplicity)’, when he saw her with oiled-up hair at a showbiz party, where is everyone is usually very image conscious.
Here’s what he’s been quoted telling in the book:
“Party mein pahocha to dekha ki ek ladki bina makeup ke, baalo mein tel aur aankhon par chashma lagaye baithi hai. Maine socha ki yaar Bollywood ki kisi heroine mein to itna saahas nahi ki baalo mein tel lagakar party mein aa jaaye, to bas is saadgi par dil aa gaya (When I reached the party, I saw a girl, without any makeup, oiled-up hair, who was wearing spectacles. I thought no heroine in Bollywood would have the guts to come to a party with oil in her hair, this simplicity touched my heart).”
Shabana, was working in a film opposite Ajay Devgn around that time, entitled ‘Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet’ and had already starred in ‘Kareeb’ with Bobby Deol.
The couple now have a beautiful daughter, who was born in 2011.
