“If certain things are so wrong, then they should not be sold” Says Ajay Devgn On Vimal Elaichi Controversy, After Akshay Kumar’s Apology For Promoting The Brand

Ajay Devgn has lent his two cents on the whole Vimal Elaichi debacle.

The actor has long-been mocked for his association with the ‘pan masala/elaichi” and quote-unquote “mouth-freshener” brand, as people have often linked it with the usage of Tobacco-products that cater to a similar demographic.

After the recent episode of Akshay Kumar’s short-lived association with the brand, which the actor voluntarily exited – after receiving backlash from his fans, Ajay – has pointing out that is entirely a personal decision, and the only thing he’s promoting through the advertisement is – Elaichi (Cardamom-based mouth-freshener).

In a recent press interaction during the promotion of his upcoming film – Runway 34, the actor was quoted saying:

“It is a personal choice. When you do something, you also see how harmful it would be. Somethings are harmful, some are not.”

He further added, that if a product is indeed that harmful to the general public, it shouldn’t be allowed to be sold in the public place.

“I would say it without naming it because I don’t want to promote it; I was doing elaichi. What I feel is more than advertisements, if certain things are so wrong, then they should not be sold.”

And this couldn’t be said better than this. While there certainly lies some responsibility with each of these big names, so as not to associate themselves with something that is a potential health-hazard to the general public – but isn’t this also a big question on the so-called hazardous things being sold in the first place?
