For whatever reason our cinema or any form of mainstream media failed to tell the story depicting the plight of the 1992-exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, it can now be put to rest as the recently released ‘The Kashmir Files’ has told it the best way possible.
The Vivek Agnihotri directed hard-hitting film, chronicles various real-life inspired stories from the violent exodus in Kashmir in the early 1990’s, and clubs them together to depict their plight like never before.
Anupam Kher, who’s front-and-center in the whole film and has been the lead star of the massively successful film, was recently blessed by Kashmiri Pandits who approached him to extend their gratitude for depicting their stories.
The actor shared a video of Kashmiri Pandits showering him with flowers, to affectionately honor him for his work in the film.
He captioned the video stating – “For the last few days or rather, a few days after the release of #TheKashmirFiles, every other day a pandit or priest comes under my house and does puja and goes away without asking for anything. I am grateful to have received their blessings! Everywhere Shiva!” [Paraphrased in English]
