Sonakshi Sinha Takes A Dig At Kangana Ranaut & Her Sister, Says She ‘Sensationalized Nepotism Debate’

Although nepotism has existed in the film industry for ages, but the word has never really been discussed as vividly and as frequently as it was after Kangana Ranaut re-introduced it in Koffee With Karan and made a whole generation familiar with it.

The actress has often spoken against the ‘filmy families’, calling out those who propagate nepotism in Bollywood, taking away opportunities from outsider who come from small towns with big dreams.

Recently, actor Sonakshi Sinha – who’s the daughter of actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha, took an indirect dig at Kangana, alleging that she ‘sensationalized’ the topic in the media and stating that she does not give any importance to the debate.

During a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Sonakshi stated:

“See, it might be happening (in Bollywood), but it happens everywhere else as well. The word nepotism isn’t only limited to the film industry. Today, a businessman will hand over his business to his son, and not to a random person based on merit, no matter how good he is, his family would come first”

Taking a dig at Kangana and her sister Rangoli, both of whom have famously commented on social media before, Sonakshi further added:

“And I find it so amusing that this word nepotism has been introduced and sensationalized by a person whose sister is managing their work. And I don’t think I really want to give it that much more importance.”

But the actress also clarified further that she did not get work in the industry on requests of her father:

“Having said that, my father (Shatrughan Sinha) has never picked up the phone and called any producer to say, ‘Take my daughter in your film’.”
