Little Girl Reenacts Alia Bhatt’s Character In Gangubai, Kangana Ranaut Calls It ‘Sexualization’ Of A Child

Earlier this week, a little girl’s reenactment of Alia Bhatt’s character in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai’ went viral on social media.

It was when the Twitter handle of Filmfare magazine reshared the video, lauding the girl for pulling-off the character just like Alia has done, from the looks of the film’s first trailer.

The problem is – Gangubai was an Indian sex worker and “madam” of a brothel in the Kamathipura area of Mumbai, and the girl in question, who’s mimicking Alia, is barely 10.

Here’s the video in question (which seems to have been deleted from Filmfare’s handle after criticism):

Soon after the video was shared, Filmfare along with the parents of the girl, were called-out by social media for allowing the child to play a character with such adult themes.

Later actress Kangana Ranaut, who’s known to always lend her two cents to current social and political affairs, also raised her concerns over the video.

Tagging Minister of Women and Child Development of India, Smriti Irani, the actress asked if it was okay to sexualize a child at that age…

Kangana wrote:

“Should this child imitate a sex worker with a beedi in her mouth and mouth crude and obscene dialogues? Look at her body language, is it ok to sexualize her at this age? There are hundreds of other children who are being used similarly.”

In another post, Kangana also stated that an action must also be taken against the parents of the child, for using their little daughter for the promotion of a film based on a prostitute.

Several people co-sided with Kangana on the matter, and called out the guardians of the child and Filmfare for sharing such a content featuring a child.

What are your thoughts on this?

Is too much being read in between the lines, or is this really problematic?
