‘Kacha Badam’ Singer Gets Long-Overdue Remuneration For Viral Hit Song, Gets Rs 3 Lakhs From Music Label

Kacha Badam is the most viral thing to have happened in the Indian social media scene in recent times. And the man who curated and sang the infectious tune is finally getting his monetary compensation, after social media stars milked the song to the very last drop.

The viral jingle that was sung by a street-vendor, a peanut-seller from West Bengal, spread like wildfire after it was recorded and shared by someone.



In the past couple of months, you may also have seen several viral trends based on the countless musical remixes that have been curated over the same – some of which also feature the man who sang them first himself – Bhuban Badyakar.

 

After several people started complaining about Bhuban not receiving his due remunerations for the song, that was his – to begin with, he has now been awarded Rs 3 lakhs from the music label, which remixed the jingle and also featured him in a music video.

According to reports, Bhuban was initially not payed anything by Godhulibela Music for his original compensation, despite their remix of the tune going viral by millions.



After online outrage, the company has already paid Bhuban a downpayment of Rs 1.5 lakh, and he will now be receiving the remaining money for the song, in the coming days.

 

Badyakar has also been felicitated by the West Bengal police for all the national and international he’s brought with his viral tune.

The whole incident truly shows the power social media has, in this day and age.
