Kerala Man Provides Free Wedding Dresses To Poor Women For Their Big Day

We all know how Indian weddings can become a totally extravagant affair, even when you’re trying to trim things down.

We often find people struggling with finances, pertaining to the demanding wedding preparations in our country, that often take a toll on many families.

There are also several underprivileged couples, who don’t get to spend all that much on their special day, or even have enough to buy special clothes for their big day.

A Kerala man has come to the rescue of such people, particularly women, providing them with free-of-cost wedding dresses through his ‘wedding dress bank’.

The man, named – Nasar Thootha, operates his small shop in Thootha village in Malappuram district of Kerala. The ‘dress bank’ was started as an experiment in 2020, in which he urged several women to donate their wedding outfits, so he could pass them down to the underprivileged.

As we all know, wedding outfits are generally worn only once, and despite their big costs, they usually lay unused for the rest of time – this was proved to be of great use, as several women came forward to give Nasar their old wedding dresses.

Soon his small shop was filled with dresses from Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and even UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Nasar is now approached by several women, who cannot afford new dresses on their special day, and manage to find something for themselves in Nasar’s store.

He has helped over 260 brides so far with his venture, which continues to grow, as women continue to donate their old dresses to him.

Truly an out-of-the-box and noble act.

Nasar is putting a smile on many faces!
