“I Started Numbing Myself With Alcohol,” Bobby Deol On His Career Decline

Bobby Deol had a decent start in Bollywood with successful films like – Barsaat and Soldier in the early 2000’s.

But after a series of box-office duds, the actor slowly started disappearing from mainstream Bollywood and wasn’t seen in too many movies as the decade started coming to an end.

In the last couple of years, the actor has been seen attempting to make a return to mainstream with films like – Race 3 and Houseful 4 and was also well-received in the web-series – Aashram.

In a recent interview with a media portal, the actor reflected back at the downward spiral of his career and how it inflicted a sense of ‘self-pity’ in him which drove him towards alcoholism.

Here’s what the 53 year old was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times:

“I started pitying myself and thought that no one wants to work with me so I relied on alcohol. I started numbing myself and then one day I realized where I was wrong when I saw it in my kids’ eyes that our father stays home all day long.”

He further added:

“When you pity yourself, you will start cursing the world around you. That is what happened to me for two-three years.”

Bobby asserted that while other stars also go through tough faces in their careers, it is being ‘head-strong’ that gets them through.

Here’s hoping Bobby continues to be head-strong no matter what the up’s and down’s…
