Kavita Krishnamurthy was one of the most recognizable voices of the 1990’s Hindi music.
The versatile singer, with her resonant voice and vibrant timber and tone, ruled the charts along with some other fabulous vocalists of that era, including – Alka Yagnik, Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Abhijeet, to name a few.
With her background in Hindustani classical, the singer gave life to several hit songs from Bollywood films of that era – which became a part of her legacy.
One such song was ‘Mera Piya Ghar Aaya’ from the film ‘Yaraana’.
Released in the year 1995, the song was filmed on the ever-so-gracious Madhuri Dixit, and went on to rule the hearts of music-lovers for several years from then – with it’s upbeat and catchy tune.
Today, we revisit a live performance from Ms. Krishnamurthy, which showcases how flawlessly she was able to sing her recordings in live settings as well.
The live footage is from the year 1996 filmed at Indian Embassy of Kuwait, and it features her sitting beside singer Suresh Wadekar, delivering a fantastic live vocal of the song.
