Watch: American Singer Mary Millben’s Beautifully Sung ‘Om Jai Jagdeesh’ For Diwali

The friendship between United States and India has often been exemplified by the cross-cultural celebrations between the two nations, every year.

With the gigantic population of Indian-Americans residing in the United States, the amalgamation of the two cultures have often resulted into some beautiful moments – especially around festive holidays.

In similar lines, American singer Mary Millben – who had previously garnered attention for her rendition of India’s National Anthem, sang a unique, yet spell-winding rendition of Hindu prayer/aarti – ‘Om Jai Jagdeesh’, on the occasion of Diwali.

Mary, who’s mother Althea Millben, was a classically trained Opera singer, showcases her roots in everything she sings – and her version of this soothing, enchanting and spell-binding prayer, is a beautiful fusion of east and west.

Speaking on her rendition of the Aarti, Mary was quoted saying:

“India, the people of India, and the Indian-American community are very special to me. What a blessing to perform virtually for Diwali 2020 – an annual, Indian festival of lights where India, Indian Americans, and people from all over the world gather this year virtually to celebrate new harvest, gratefulness for prosperity, and celebrate light over darkness through the beauty of lamps.”

Watch the beautiful take on the prayer below:

Absolutely beautiful.
