SRK Is Doing Same Roles As Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, He Should Do Something Else, Says Mahesh Manjrekar

Mahesh Manjrekar seems unimpressed by the kind of cinema actor Shah Rukh Khan is doing, and he wants him to do better.

The filmmaker and actor, in a recent interview, stated how SRK needs to do more roles appropriate for his age – as he’s mostly been seen still doing the same kind of rom-coms that actors of younger generation are doing presently.

Manjrekar, who is currently directing Salman Khan’s upcoming film ‘Antim: The Final Truth’, spoke on the subject while speaking with a leading daily.

The 63 year old stated that SRK should ‘break that shell’ in order to do justice to his talent.

Here is what he was quoted as saying by ETimes:

“‘One actor who I feel has not done justice to his talent is Shah Rukh Khan and the problem is because they don’t want to break that shell. They want to live in that shell of comfort ki meri ye picture chali, meri loverboy wali chali… They need to break that shell.'”

Mahesh went on to say, that SRK has been doing the same roles of ‘mainstream heroes’ of much younger age, which aren’t doing anything for his talent.

“‘Shah Rukh is doing a role today that a Ranbir Kapoor or a Ranveer Singh is doing. So why will people see a Shah Rukh? They will want to see Shah Rukh in a role that they should feel ke ye role Shah Rukh ka tha. Age bhi right hai, sab right hai. Somewhere I feel he should do something out of the box and he’ll do a brilliant job. He’s a fantastic actor.'”
