People Come In Kangana Ranaut’s Defense As She Gets Slut-Shamed After Her Comments on India’s Freedom

For some reason, Kangana Ranaut remains the most controversial figure in Bollywood.

The outspoken actress, has always managed to stay in limelight with her instinctive ability to never hold back from saying the first thoughts that come in her head, pertaining to whatever she’s asked about.

That certainly keeps plenty of media houses well-fed, but the 4-time National Award winner continues to remain in trouble, out of her own doing.

Now take for example her recent comments on India’s independence, during the Times Now Summit, in which the actress cited the 1947 freedom of the nation – a ‘bheekh’, a charity of some sort, stating that “real independence” only came in the year 2014 – pointing to the time when the BJP party formed government under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership.

The politically motivated statement was widely criticized for being derogatory to India’s freedom struggle and several people even asked for legal action to be taken against the actress, on account of sedation.

But amidst it all – the backlash has strayed into a form of ‘character assassinations’ and the misogynist mindset of some internet commentators have led it into slut-shaming, in which the actress’ recent clothing choices and her films roles are being used to target her modesty.

This has led several people to come out and call-out the act of slut-shaming, even while still disagreeing with her statements.

Majority of the people seem to have condemned those who have posted images and screenshots of the actress from her red-carpet appearances, to her film scenes – talking about her attire, and sexualizing her clothing choices – taking away from their actual criticism over her statements.

Apparently, even in 2021, people can’t keep a discussion civil – especially if it’s a woman they’re disagreeing with.

Why does it always has to boil down to slut-shaming?

This is not needed to express that you disagree with someone!
