Not Sardar Udham, Tamil Movie ‘Koozhangal’ Has Been Selected As India’s Official Entry For 2021 Oscars

The race to the 2021 Oscars, which was being fronted by films – ‘Sardar Udham’ and ‘Sherni’ from India, has now been bested by a Tamil-language film – entitled ‘Koozhangal.’

While viewers were going gaga over Vicky Kaushal’s recently released flick, ‘Sardar Udham’ which showcased some brutal and never-to-be-forgotten visual of the Jhalianwala massacre, the film was being pushed to the front – by those who were highly impressed by this critically acclaimed Shoojit Sarkar magnum opus, after watching it on Amazon Prime.

But the race is won by ‘Koozhangal’, a hard-hitting film about an abusive husband – who ventures out in search of his wife, after she elopes as a result of his misbehavior. Accompanied by his young son, the man takes-up the journey – and that is beautifully depicted in the film.

Debutant Tamil director PS Vinothraj’s film was also screened at the 50th International Film Festival Rotterdam. It stars Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan.

The film also goes by the alias ‘Pebbles’ and it’s little teaser available on YouTube will intrigue you to watch it:

Good luck to the filmmakers and the producers! Let us hope this represents the industry well at the awards.
