Kangana Ranaut was full of praise for veteran actress Rekha on her 67th birthday.
The 4-time National Award winner, left a heartfelt note for her on her Instagram story, calling her ‘Godmother’ and praising her for her beauty and elegance.
“Happy birthday to my Godmother dear Rekha ji…epitome of grace, elegance and beauty,” she wrote.
She also shared a picture of herself with the ‘Umrao Jaan’ actress, when the two posed for the shutterbugs in regal-looking sarees at Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s wedding reception in 2017.
While ‘Godmother’ in the general sense may mean someone who mentors and guides another artist, it is safe to assume Kangana used the term to pay homage to their similar auras, as true-blue Indian divas of the silver-screen.
However, Rekha too had previously spoke highly of Kangana. In an interview in 2019, right before the release of ‘Manikarnika’, Rekha stated, ‘If I had a daughter, she would be like Kangana.’
On the work front, Kangana Ranaut is presently enjoying the OTT success of her recently released flick, ‘Thalaivii’ – which has consistently managed to remain atop on Netflix India this past week, and has also opened on Amazon Prime in south Indian languages.
She is now readying the release of her action-thriller ‘Dhaakad’, and filming another major flick, ‘Tejas’ – in which she plays an Indian Air Force pilot.
