Noble Act: Vikas Khanna & Tisca Chopra Providing Food To Transgenders & Widows in Covid Crisis

The Coronavirus pandemic has proven particularly destructive to social and economical vulnerable groups, that struggled to make ends meet even before this global crisis hit us all.

Thankfully for a few, a number of celebrities and well-off people have come forward to provide economic help to those who have faced a setback due to the nation-wide lockdown, making them unable to provide for their families.

Joining such forces, celebrity Chef and humanitarian Vikas Khanna has also come forward to help transgenders and widows in our society who have been affected by the pandemic-induced lockdown.

Together with actress Tisca Chopra, Khanna has been providing meals to the needy – particular those in the trans community and widowed women.

Speaking to IANS, the Taare Zameen Par actress stated:

“When Vikas Khanna and his team approached me for this specific campaign #IndiaForMothers to support widows and transgenders in India who have lost their livelihood due to the pandemic, it was an instant yes from me. These mothers are not just nurturers, but also providers and many have been left jobless and even homeless during this pandemic.”

She further added:

“Similarly, the transgender community is also in need — many are currently jobless and in desperate need of support.”

Way to go!

Those in privileged positions should all join their forces to ensure the needy folks in our society get a helping hand.

We can all get through this travesty, if we work together like this.
