Neha Kakkar & Himesh’s Performance Of Kishore Da Songs Mocked By Internet, His Son Calls Indian Idol ‘Boring’

Neha Kakkar and Himesh Reshammiya were the butt of several jokes after their underwhelming cover of a Kishore Kumar song in the recent episode of Indian Idol.

The show’s judges along with it’s contestants put together a special tribute for the late musical icon, who has often been regarded as one of the best male singers the country has produced.

The show was also co-judged by Kishore Da’s son Amit Kumar, who after the internet backlash stated that he indeed found the show boring and wanted it to be done with.

He also revealed that he was specifically asked not to criticize any performance and to just sing praises and encourage everyone, even if he didn’t like any performance of his late father’s classics.

Here is what has been quoted as saying by Indiatimes on the subject:

“The truth is that nobody can sing like Kishore Kumar, he was a mountain of a personality and man of many faces. The youngsters of today have no idea about him, they just know ‘Roop Tera Mastana’ from ‘Aradhna’. I did what I was told.”

He further added:

“I was told sabko praise karna hai. I was told jo jaisa bhi gaaye usko uplift karna hai because it’s a tribute to Kishore da. I thought it will be a homage to my father. But once there, I just followed what I was asked to do. I had told them to give me portions of the script in advance, but nothing of that sort happened”.

Truly no one can sing like Kishore Da in today’s day and age.

Is Indian music industry of today truly lacking of a hardcore singing talent, like we used to have in the past?
