Abid Khan’s story depicts the effects to similar negligence and lack of attention, that other sports and sportspersons suffer from.

He was once a national level boxing champion, but due to the faults and loopholes in our sports system and lack of support from people, he now drives an auto to support his family and make ends meet.

A recently uploaded video showing the former national-level sportsperson driving an auto in order to earn a living has now gone viral, which has once again brought everyone’s attention to the plight of atheletes.

A student of National Institute of Sports, Patiala in the 80’s, representing Punjab University – Abid Khan had to take up different jobs including driving an auto due to his financial condition, which eventually made him stray away from his path of being a boxing champion.

His story has once again touched many people and it brings to the table the same question – why can’t the masses support other sports just as they do cricket?
