Mahima Chaudhary – once one of the most promising young actresses of her time, has been away from showbiz for the longest, and has a lot to share and tell from her experiences.
The ‘Pardes’ actress has now recalled how during the peak of her career, a renowned director had tried to spread rumours about her having an affair with actor Ajay Devgn, who was already married with Kajol at that time.
The yesteryear star revealed this in her latest interview with entertainment blog – Bollywood Bubble, speaking on the subject of how the industry treats female actors.
The rumour had started from a film set, when Ajay tried to comfort Mahima following a brutal road accident involving her that left her with some scars on her face.
The duo were shooting a scene and the director took some close-up shots of Mahima’s face which made her extremely uncomfortable, due to her scars. This was noticed by her co-star Ajay, who tried to console her and immediately asked the director to leave out the shoot, even it if meant dismantling the entire set to postpone it.
This, according to Mahima, led the director to start a rumour about the two – being in love with each other.
“I remember post that, the director went and told everyone that Ajay Devgn is in love with me and there were rumours in the magazines that I was seeing Ajay Devgn. That made me even more uncomfortable. He had just gotten married sometime back when we were doing Dil Kya Kare and that film was not even complete when they got married.”
Ajay Devgn and Mahima also worked together in the 1999 film ‘Dil Kya Kare’ which was directed by Prakash Jha, but according to Mahima the incident happened while she was shooting for another small role with Ajay in some other film.
Sad to know, the kind of experience she had to endure during her peak years in showbiz.
