Bollywood is yet again divided on the subject of the heart-breaking violent clash between farmers and the Delhi police on the occasion of India’s Republic Day.
The protest-turned-riots caused massive damage to public property, also leading to the injury of men from both sides.
The visuals of protestors marching all the way to Delhi’s Red Fort, only to hoist their own flag along side the flag of India – sparked further outrage, as it was considered a symbol of demeaning the national flag.
As the visuals stunned all of us at home, Bollywood celebs also reacted to the happenings – with many extending support to the protesting farmers, in the midst of all the violence.
Some of them showed their unhappiness over the ‘lathi charge’ by cops, while others like Farah Khan blamed the government for not listening to the voices of those in the roads.
Swara just wrote a ‘heartbroken’ emoticon to express her support towards the farmers:

It appears that the government has got what it wanted, from day one! It was waiting for an opportunity to show the entire protest in poor light, by design or default. Constant attempts at needling/provoking the protestors; undermining, subverting, debasing the protests. Sad.

The government and those who speak for it have constantly used the false Khalistani narrative ( an affront to Sikhs) to delegitimize the protest. They insult Sikhs, question their patriotism -with total disregard to the turbulent past – for petty short term political gain!! https://t.co/RjNOCVrszT

When the people raise their voices in protest peacefully & a Govt does not listen to those voices, there will be anarchy. The Govt is meant to listen to its people and help bring solutions to their demands. The farmers have been protesting peacefully for 6 months with no headway.

Every Bill has pros and cons & everything can be discussed & worked out amicably but when a Govt is adamant &only promotes those in favour of them, there is bound to be dissent.
Violence either way isn’t the way & neither is provocation. Discussion is the only way— Farah Khan (@FarahKhanAli) January 26, 2021

Contrary to these opinions, other celebs like – Kangana Ranaut and Ranvir Shoray lashed out at the farmer and other protestors for the violence and symbolic damage done in the national capital, especially on a day like Republic Day.
Shoray stated that ‘farmers are not above the nation’, while Ranaut asked for the ‘blood on the streets’ to stop.

Get a taste of left-lib hypocrisy: The violence and rioting on Republic Day by the #FarmersProtests was only by extremists; don’t blame the whole movement, but if any right-wing fringe group riots or lynches, BJP-RSS are to blame. pic.twitter.com/WwGYBJZswt

No matter what side these opinions come from, it is saddening to see these visuals on a day that is supposed to unite us all as a nation.
