Veteran Actor Dharmendra Remembers His Late Mother On His 85th Birthday, Says He Still Cries Remembering Her

Legendary actor Dharmendra turned 85 years old on the 8th of December, but he did not celebrate the occasion as he usually does.

The actor stated that he didn’t feel like celebrating his birthday due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and also because he misses his late mother.

The veteran star spoke with Mumbai Mirror on the occasion of his special day and reflected back on how, even after all these years, he misses his late mother, Satwant Kaur.

Dharmendra stated that he still cries when he remembers and misses his mother, as she used to cook ‘halwa’ on his birthday when she was still alive.

Here’s what he was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror on the subject:

“Maa bhagwan hoti hai. Jab khushi dene wali nahi rahi, toh kaise manau janam din? Bas rasme nibha leta hoon aur tanhai mein maa ko yaad karke ro leta hoon. Woh jab thi tab mere janam din par halwa banati thi.”

The star also spoke on being blessed enough to work at his age, and his upcoming project, ‘Apne 2’:

“Camera is my love and the camera loves me. I can self-analyze and I know what I am capable of at this point in my life. When I know I can do it, why shouldn’t I? People tell me that I am turning 85, but I stopped counting my age after 60. Maine zindagi jee bharke jee hai, aur zindagi ne mujhe jawaan hi rakha hai. I am about to work at 85 and I am not playing a buzurg per se in Apne 2. There’s emotion, but also a thrill element to the film.”

Good to see his still active and working.

Happy birthday to the legendary star.
