Salman Khan’s latest look from his upcoming movie was shared on social media earlier this week, but it met with immediate criticism from netizens.
The star who’s playing a Sikh cop in his upcoming film ‘Antim: The Final Truth’, was seen wearing a turban and sunglasses and also sporting a beard.
Made under the direction of Mahesh Manjrekar, here’s what a source close to the film-making process was quoted telling Mumbai Mirror:
“Salman plays a no-nonsense Sikh cop who is on a mission to end gang-wars and land mafia in his area of jurisdiction.”
Soon after the look was shared, Twitter users called him out for donning a ‘Sikh avatar’ for his movie, yet keeping mum on the ongoing farmer’s protests, being spearheaded by thousands of Sikh farmers.
Here’s how some of the criticisms poured-in:
1)
But he is not showing up any interest in supporting Sikhs / farmers in the #FarmersProtest why they want to make money in the name of a community but get mum when they need their support? Disappointing! @BeingSalmanKhan #RepealBlackLaws https://t.co/AVrIuW8dE7

2)
Hey #SalmanKhan say something about farmer protest. Don’t make movies on Sikh cop. Go just and speak up against modi.

How are you tweeted about farmer’ protests and Salman Khan’s “Sikh” look at the same time? These fuckers haven’t spoken up about the human rights violations happening as a result of these black laws and you’re praising him? Sad. https://t.co/dAr8FMWVM3

@BeingSalmanKhan don’t you think you should address #FarmerProtests before donning a Punjabi Sikh attire (which represents a majority of farmers) in your upcoming film??? Sure you all make money off of Punjabi, Haryanvi and Bihari culture but can stand up for their causes? https://t.co/B3qXfsddzf

Salman bhai, don't be like @akshaykumar, @iamsunnydeol or @ajaydevgn who only made money playing sikh. Be a Khan, support Farmers.

Funny how these ppl portray themselves as Sikhs on screen but are silent in supporting farmers. If you haven’t supported us and are silent today, then you are no longer welcome to Punjab or to portray our culture. Not that Bollywood has ever portrayed Sikhs correctly anyway🙏

You ppl can see here that Salman Khan is Playing #Sikh in his new film to earn money. But he is not ready to say few words to support Punjab’s farmers. Hope Punjab farmers will boycott his films. #FarmersAreNotTerrorists pic.twitter.com/IHJdOZ0XMq
