Pankaj Tripathi who’s going to go all retro with his look in the upcoming biopic of Southern sensation, ‘Shakeela’ is reflecting back at a time in showbiz, which has remained largely a mystery.
Tripathi will co-star with Richa Chaddha – who will be portraying the controversial actress and sex-icon of the 90’s soft-porn industry, from a much conservative period in movies than now.
Reflecting back on the 90’s, Pankaj spoke of how the superstars who ascended during that period were truly the last of their sort, even when it came to their clothing style – which he’ll attempt to recreate in the film.
“The nineties heroes truly were superstars. The era of superstars started fading away after that. These heroes have been heroes not just on screen but off screen, too. Every element of their personality, even their wardrobe, became statements,” he was quoted as saying by IANS.
The talented actor further stated:
“The fashion of that time was so peculiar, much like any other decade. That’s what we want to embody on screen. I thoroughly enjoyed the process to get into this look, wearing flashy flamboyant clothes — a far off thing from a lot of the other work I have done.”
