Asha Bhosle turned 87 this past week.
The legendary vocalist, who has recorded thousands of tunes in a career spanning several decades, still keeps that happy and positive outlook towards life that helped curate a niche for her as an artist, in the first place.
Sister to another singing legend, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha’s timeless voice and her songs have been etched in our memories forever.
On the special occasion of her birthday this past week, Lata Mangeshkar – who is 90, took to her social media handle to wish her younger sister in with some sisterly words of adoration.
Here’s the translated, paraphrased message the legendary songbird left for her sibling:
“Today is my younger sister, Asha Bhosle’s birthday. Asha is a great vocalist in her own right and her name is known across the world. I give her my blessings that she continues to sing and stay happy like this.”
The ‘Lag Ja Gale’ singer also posted a rare picture of the two together on her Instagram handle:
Same day, Asha also took to her Twitter handle to talk about how she still feels positive like a 40 year old, despite approaching the “big 9.”
“Keep smiling and my advise is to pls be that positive person for all around you – spread the happiness,” she stated.
