Earlier in March, when Covid-19 was wrecking havoc in countries like Italy and Spain, a number of horrifying visuals and stories were coming to light.
People were reported to have died on the streets, due to the lack of medical support system – and the overwhelming number of hospitalisations as a result of the unprecedented viral outbreak.
While the pandemic is still haunting the world, with increasing cases everywhere – the picture witnessed in some countries during the star of the outbreak were truly horrifying – as young people continued to die, due to lack of hospital beds and such.
In the midst of such disaster, one inspiring story that was reported around that time touched everyone’s hearts worldwide.

It was about a 90 year old woman who gave up her bed and ventilator support system, after seeing and witnessing the travesty around her.
The woman, in question, believed that the ventilator could be put to use for someone who’s a lot younger than her, to save their lives instead of her – shortly after which, she passed away.
Her sacrifice was lauded by millions worldwide and was a symbol of how a lot of people have waged war against this disease, and several such unheard stories.
Her name was Suzanne Hoylaerts from Binkom, Belgium. And here’s what she said:
“I don’t want to use artificial respiration. Save it for younger patients. I already had a good life.”
Shortly after giving up on her ventilator, she passed away – perhaps giving life to someone else in the queue.
As the pandemic continues to take a toll on lives around the world, let us continue to appreciate the precious gift of life, holding each other strong in these unprecedented brutal times.
