Badshah has been embroiled in a fresh new controversy.
The renowned rapper and music producer has been alleged of buying ‘fake views’ for his song ‘Paagal Hai’ on YouTube.
The 34 year old had previously claimed that the music video to his hit song had broken a world record by amassing over 7.5 crore views in a single day. Although the claims were not confirmed by either YouTube or Google.
He was recently questioned in relation to singer Bhumi Trivedi’s complaint of a fake profile under her name, which in turn led the cops to a fake followers’ scam.
Later The Indian Express quoted, Deputy commissioner of police, Nandkumar Thakur with the following:
“The singer confessed that he wanted to set a world record for the most number of viewers in 24 hours on YouTube. That is why he paid Rs 72 lakh.”
Soon after the news broke out, netizens seemed to be having a field day in trolling him, and singer Sona Mahapatra was also seen taking a dig at the whole culture of ‘buying and selling’ hit songs:
I’d call it building an empire using matchsticks but the sad part; most do buy into this perception game. The shaadi circuit pays enough to afford these buyouts with their ‘status’ oriented,’live?’music choices…Actors, first to get on to this & of course the Punjabi ‘artists’.🤟🏾 pic.twitter.com/57PCHTfkNs

Would be interesting to see how Badshah is received by his fans following this ‘revelation’ of sorts.
