Telangana Rape Accused’s Mother: ‘Burn My Son The Way He Killed The Doctor’

As nation mourns yet another act of violence that took place in Telengana this past week, we are yet again made to question if things have changed at all since 2012’s heart-wrenching Nirbhaya rape and murder.

Women are still unsafe, still vulnerable, still treated like objects and still brutalised not just by those who commit these heinous crimes, but also by the mindsets that give birth to acts like these.

As the protests continue to pour from across the nation and the police have managed to nab the four accused, who brutally gang-raped 27-yr-old veterinary doctor in Telangana and then set her on fire – one of the accused man’s mother has also come out in support of the victim.

In a viral video the accused man’s mother can be heard saying that if her son is found to be of guilty of a disgusting crime like that, he should be put on fire too.

Here’s what she was quoted as saying:

“If my son is wrong, burn him the same way she was burnt. Isn’t the victim also the daughter of a mother? I am suffering today, I can imagine what the girl’s mother is going through.”

All the four accused, Mohammad Pasha, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen, and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu have been arrested and are in police custody now.

Let us just hope the criminal proceedings are fast forwarded and the accused are put to justice soon.

We can’t wait for months and years to have these cases resolved.

Justice delayed, is justice denied.
