This Indian Sand Artist Just Won People’s Choice Award for his Work, in the US

Indian sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has made India proud by being acknowledged for his remarkable sand-art work in the Unites States.

The renowned artist has landed himself a People’s Choice award at a prestigious sand art and sculpting festival in the country, for his inspiring work in the genre.

Pattnaik created awareness about the environmental pollution caused by plastic with his sculpting art in the competition, inspiring the American public to vote for him as this year’s winner in the race.

Over 15 artists from across the world had participated in the contest but it was Sudarsan’s art-form that won most hearts at the Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting fest in Boston, Massachusetts.



Here is what he was quoted telling PTI after his win:

“This is a very big award and honour for me in the US. This award is for India, which is also doing a great deal to beat plastic pollution and raise awareness on this very important matter.”

I have won the People’s Choice Prize at USA for My SandArt on Plastic Pollution with message, “Save our Ocean ” in #Boston International SandArt Championship/ Festival 2019.
He further added:

“This award is not only for me but for the people. This is a public awareness sculpture. Those who have voted for my sculpture have voted for action on plastic pollution.”
