Indian Gay Couple’s Dreamy Wedding Abroad Catches Internet’s Attention!

It is raining love this monsoon. And the colors of the rainbow, all seem to be present.

After a few Indian same-sex unions/weddings, the society which had once turned its back to acknowledging the existence of its sexual minorities, is slowly waking up to the reality that has always existed, and always will.

Take for case, a beautiful wedding between an NRI gay-couple which took place in the United States – with all the traditional tid-bits you’d expect in any other marriage, and with all their loved ones present.

Amit Shah – founder of a dance company in New Jersey, tied the knot with Aditya Madiraju – who works for a corporate, formalizing their union with a traditional Hindu wedding, after dating for nearly 3 years.

Their pictures, straight out of a fairy tale, an unorthodox one indeed, are now going viral on social media.

Thank you to everyone who took the time out to congratulate Aditya and I over the last few days. We are unable to respond to each and every message, but we are very grateful for your support. 🙏🏽 As we fall back into our routine life, it is important to remember that any conversation about same-sex marriage is healthy (whether you agree with the views of others or not.) To open up someone’s mind about something they know nothing about takes time and patience. Anger and frustration is never the way to build awareness. Give those uninformed a chance to learn and realize that LOVE is more powerful than any race, religion, gender, or preference. Keep the conversation open. During the first month Adi and I dated, we’d frequently take walks in this park on his lunch breaks (more because I wanted ice cream from the stand nearby 🤪). Same bench, same park – just a few years later and with a ring on the finger 🙏🏽 #stillintoyou Outfit | @andazdesign Shoes | @louboutinworld Photograph | @paulosalud

There’s no doubt that back home in India, we still have a long way to go – when it comes to offering LGBTQ people the same basic rights as their heterosexual counterparts.

We just decriminalized consensual gay sex among adults barely 2 years ago, so things like marriage, adoption, workplace equality, old-age houses are still somewhere far down in the horizon.

But with beautiful stories of love winning over hate like these, our faith in the times to come continue to be restored.

Here’s to loving and letting love.
