Beyond Kedarnath: 5 ‘Other’ Beautiful Temples To Visit In Uttarakhand

Beyond the popular pilgrim destinations of India’s very own ‘devbhoomi’ – Uttarakhand, there are some lesser popular and “not-so-popular” beautiful places of worship, that are certain to send you on a trip to divinity.

As a traveler I always try to venture out to those secluded areas, which aren’t as commercialized and crowded as the mainstream ones.

Although there are literally countless big and small temples in this surreal land of god and abundant nature, I have attempted to put together a few of these in the Kumaon region of the state from some of my recent trips, which will make you want to escape for a getaway for some solitude and peace of mind.

From the relatively popular, Jageshwar Dham – which is considered as one of the most sacred places of Lord Shiva and a marvelous piece of ancient architecture, to a lesser known but equally divine – ‘Bineshwar Mahadev’ temple, which is so calm and people-less, that it will give you a sense of oneness like few other places.

Check out this list:

SYAHI DEVI, SHITLAKHET

BINESHWAR MAHADEV, RANIKHET

RUDRADHARI TEMPLE, KAUSANI

TUNGNATH TEMPLE, GARHWAL

KALIMATH, GARHWAL

Have you been to any of these places?
